Even the most talented of actors have their breaking points when it comes to remaining in character and in the sixth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, a side-splitting moment improvised by Dwayne Johnson resulted in Ludacris cracking. Prepare to see Johnson on fire:

And who should join the collective of actors to crack out a banger of an improvised line but The Rock, while shooting Fast and Furious 6.

The movie franchise – which has gone on to roll out multiple other films such as The Fate of the Furious (2017) and Fast X (2023) – is best known for its high-intensity action scenes, hair-raising fight scenes and star-studded cast.

However, don’t let that take away from the moments of pure comedy, so pure in fact, it’s been revealed they were actually improvised – like this moment between the characters of Luke Hobbs (Johnson), Tej Parker (Ludacris) and Roman Pearce (Gibson).

Whilst shooting a scene in which the crew gather round for a barbecue, Johnson took it upon himself to add a little spice to the script and let’s just say we’re all glad he did.

In the scene, Ludacris and Gibson are tending to a BBQ in character and – seeing Johnson approach – Gibson quips: “Hey Mia, you better hide your baby oil” – a not-so-subtle dig against the strongman’s shiny aesthetic.

Upon clocking Johnson’s face, he quickly follows up with: “I’m just playing.”

Taking absolutely no time to think up a response, The Rock launches back with a side-splitting counter-attack saying: “You better hide that big a** forehead.”

Ludacris – stood right next to Gibson at the time of the hilarious roast – can’t contain his laughter, a sip he just took of his drink spraying out of his mouth as he’s left in stitches over the quip.

Not knowing where to go from there, Gibson proceeds to say: “I was just joking but whatever.”

And while the scene may be an oldie, it’s a goldie and frequently resurfaces on social media, fans of the franchise rushing to praise it.

One TikTok user explained: “Ludacris was shocked from Dwayne Johnson’s reaction as that was not in the original script.”

A second echoed: “That was actually what they said to each other cause they didn’t have anything part for this scene.

“Ludacris’ reaction is legit.”

“One of my favorite parts from this movie,” wrote a third, “I think it’s because of Ludacris’ genuine reaction.”

Another penned: “True unscripted reaction by Ludacris. One of the best scenes in the movie.”
